Great to meet you!

Welcome! I’m Megan Hansen, a fully licensed clinical social worker with a deep passion for helping neurodivergent individuals, trauma survivors, and those navigating self-worth and identity challenges. I earned my Bachelors of Social Work degree from Saginaw Valley State University in 2016 and completed my Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work at Michigan State University in 2017. I also hold a School Social Work Certification and have years of experience supporting students and families in both school and clinical settings.

My practice is grounded in strengths-based, trauma-informed care with an emphasis on honoring neurodiversity. I specialize in working with neurodivergent children, teens, and women—especially those who feel misunderstood, overwhelmed, or out of sync with the world around them. I integrate evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT-informed care, and systems theory, and I strive to create a welcoming, affirming space where clients can feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Whether you’re navigating emotional regulation, sensory challenges, executive functioning, or healing from past trauma, I’m here to walk alongside you with empathy and clarity. My goal is to help you build insight, resilience, and lasting tools for growth

My approach to therapy

A safe, trusting relationship is the foundation of effective therapy—and that’s where I begin. My style is warm, affirming, and compassionate, while also being honest and direct when needed. I believe in empowering clients through education and collaboration so they can make informed decisions and feel ownership over their healing journey.

My approach is always person-centered, meaning your treatment is tailored to your unique needs, strengths, and goals. I draw from a variety of evidence-based methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, strength-based practices, systems theory, and attachment theory. I also integrate creative and art-based techniques, and I’m mindful of the many ways people communicate. Whether it’s through words, visuals, movement, or behavior, I work to honor your communication style and adapt accordingly.

In our work together, you’ll gain tools you can actually use in daily life—things like coping strategies, visual schedules, emotional regulation supports, and routines that bring structure and relief. Together, we’ll create a space where you feel understood, respected, and capable of meaningful growth—at your own pace and in your own way.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to walk away from sessions feeling seen, supported, and empowered. My goal is to help you build insight, develop practical tools, and grow a deeper sense of confidence in yourself. Whether we’re working on emotional regulation, navigating neurodivergence, processing trauma, or improving daily functioning, sessions are a space where your unique experience is honored and your goals are front and center.

I strive to create an environment that is calm, affirming, and adaptable—where all communication styles are welcomed and supported. You can expect a mix of reflection, education, and real-life tools like coping strategies, visual supports, or routines tailored to your needs. Ultimately, therapy with me is about helping you move through the world with more clarity, self-compassion, and agency.
