Great to meet you!

My name is Megan Higgins, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and founder of Calm Tides Psychiatry. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Wilkes University and am licensed in South Carolina. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care for children, adolescents, and adults through telepsychiatry. My background in critical care nursing and personal experience as a parent of children with mental health challenges have shaped my empathetic, collaborative approach. I’m dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to achieve wellness.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized. I believe the best outcomes come from truly understanding each person’s story—what’s working, what’s not, and what matters most to them. I work together with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that may include medication management, therapy techniques, and lifestyle strategies to support overall wellbeing.

I strive to create a nonjudgmental, supportive environment where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to take an active role in their care. My style is warm, patient-centered, and evidence-based, grounded in empathy and clinical expertise.

I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and trauma-related concerns in children, adolescents, and adults. Whether we’re working through life transitions, stress, or long-standing mental health challenges, my goal is to help clients find balance, resilience, and calm in their daily lives.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my goal is to create a comfortable, judgment-free space where you can share what brings you to care at your own pace. We’ll talk about your current concerns, medical and mental health history, and what you hope to gain from treatment. I’ll take time to listen carefully, answer questions, and explain my approach so you know what to expect moving forward. Together, we’ll begin developing an individualized plan that may include medication, therapy strategies, or both. By the end of our visit, you’ll have a clearer sense of next steps and feel supported as we begin your journey toward improved wellbeing.
