Great to meet you!

I’m Melinda H. Abernethy, Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of NC and VA. I received my Undergraduate and Masters Degree from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. My work history includes school based therapy, family centered therapy, early intervention and most recently individual therapy.

With a decade of experience in clinical social work, I am dedicated to supporting individuals through the unique challenges of this life. I have experience in prenatal and postpartum period, life transitions, infertility, anxiety, depression, and work related stress.

My approach to therapy

My approach is compassionate, evidence-based, and tailored to each individual’s needs, fostering a safe space for healing and personal growth. I integrate a variety of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, and person-centered therapy, to help clients navigate emotional challenges and build resilience. My goal is to empower individuals with the tools and support they need to manage life’s complexities with confidence and strength.

What you can expect from me

If you’re seeking a supportive and understanding space to work through your journey, I am here to help. It is my goal for you to feel comfortable in the therapeutic environment and feel safe to express yourself. Together we will create goals that feel manageable for you to support change.
