Great to meet you!

Healing begins with connection, even through a screen. I'm Melissa Cook, LPC-S, licensed in Texas and Arkansas, and I offer telehealth sessions for teens, adults, couples, and parents anywhere in either state. I specialize in anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and parenting support. I also understand the unique pressure of running a business, so if you're a business owner or professional carrying stress, burnout, or anxiety that follows you home, I offer a space to set it down. My style is warm, down-to-earth, and honest, and yes, there's room for laughter in therapy.

My approach to therapy

My approach is humanistic at its core. I believe you're the expert on your own life, and that growth happens in a relationship built on empathy, acceptance, and honesty. I've been a licensed counselor since 2018 and have spent those years helping teens, adults, couples, and parents work through anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and the everyday stress of family and work life.

In our sessions, I use person-centered methods like reflective listening and exploring your values so you feel truly heard and understood. When you want practical tools, I add techniques from CBT and solution-focused therapy, such as identifying and reframing unhelpful thought patterns, building coping skills for worry and focus, and setting small, achievable goals that build on your strengths. For parents, I help you understand what's behind your child's behavior and create strategies that bring calm and connection back home. You set the pace, and we adjust as we go.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a secure video appointment, about 60 minutes long, that you can join from home, your office, or anywhere private and comfortable. Before we meet, you'll fill out a few intake forms online so we can spend our time focused on you.

During the session, we'll talk about what brought you to therapy, what's been hardest lately, and what you'd like to be different. I'll ask about your background, relationships, health, and history to get the full picture, and we'll go over confidentiality and how telehealth sessions work. You're welcome to ask me anything about my approach. By the end, we'll set initial goals and a plan for how often to meet. You don't need to have it all figured out beforehand, because that's what I'm here for.
