Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Missy Davison, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) serving clients in Texas and Arkansas. With over 17 years of experience, I specialize in helping older teens and adults heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and life’s difficult challenges.

As a Christian trauma therapist, I believe healing is possible and that no one should have to walk through their struggles alone. My goal is to provide a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental space where you feel seen, heard, and supported as you work toward lasting healing and peace.

I am trained in evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT). Together, we will find the approach that best fits your unique needs, helping you process painful experiences, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and move forward with greater confidence and freedom.

For clients who desire it, I also integrate Christian faith into the counseling process, offering a foundation of hope, grace, and encouragement alongside proven therapeutic techniques.

Taking the first step toward healing can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to do it alone. It would be an honor to walk alongside you as you move from surviving to truly living with greater peace, healing, and hope.

My approach to therapy

In our sessions, I take a client-centered approach, ensuring that you feel heard, supported, and empowered every step of the way. During our first meeting, we’ll take the time to get to know each other and discuss what’s troubling you. Together, we will identify the progress you hope to make, and I will work with you to create a tailored treatment plan.

I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps to identify and challenge negative thought patterns. I believe that by changing the way we think, we can change the way we feel and behave. This empowering technique is key to creating lasting transformation.

Additionally, I am Nationally Certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). These evidence-based methods are specifically designed to address trauma and its effects, helping you process painful memories, heal emotional wounds, and restore your sense of well-being.

What you can expect from me

When you see me, you can expect a peaceful, calm, and relaxing environment—one where you feel completely comfortable, safe, and supported. I pride myself on creating a space where you can truly be yourself, free from judgment. I strive to meet you exactly where you are in your journey, offering a warm, compassionate presence that allows you to feel heard and understood.

I have a gentle, personable approach, and I believe in being real with my clients. I will never overwhelm you with “therapeutic jargon” or complex concepts. Instead, I focus on clear, relatable communication that’s easy to understand and apply. I am just as human as you are, and my goal is to work alongside you using the tools and experience I have gained to help you navigate your challenges.

From our sessions, you can expect to leave feeling heard, supported, and with practical tools to help you move forward. Whether you're processing trauma, managing stress, or working on personal growth, I’m here to help you take meaningful steps toward healing and self-discovery, all while creating an atmosphere of trust and authenticity.
