Great to meet you!
Hello! My name is Melissa, and I am a proud Lumbee Native from North Carolina. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly two decades of experience helping individuals navigate life’s most difficult moments. My approach to therapy is deeply influenced by the resilience of my ancestors and the spiritual guidance that has shaped my journey.
Throughout my career, I have provided clinical support in a variety of settings, including working with individuals who are incarcerated. My passion lies in trauma therapy, and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as other evidence-based trauma treatments. I specialize in working with complex trauma, Indigenous Historical and Ancestral Trauma, Survivors' Guilt, PTSD, Attachment Trauma, and Post-Traumatic Growth.
I am committed to continuous learning and am currently pursuing my PhD in International Psychology with a trauma specialization at The Chicago School. This allows me to bring a culturally informed perspective to my work.
