Great to meet you!

My life’s work as a former elementary teacher, school guidance counselor, coach, and now a professional therapist has been in providing a warm, judgment-free, and open space where understanding builds and learning to heal begins. I am cheerful, authentic, and easy to relate to, with a passion for social justice, diversity, LGBTQIA+ equality, and advocacy. My lived experience in the educational setting and community has given me a unique perspective- empowering me in helping clients struggling with issues related to gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, and oppression.

Some special interests include childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, Autism, grief, loss, and affirming LGBTQIA+ youth-adult and neurodivergent populations.

On a personal note, I'm an avid kayaker, mountain biker, camper, gardener, and lover of nature. I also dabble in home DIY projects.

My approach to therapy

As a therapist, my approach is grounded in a combination of mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed CBT, and person-centered principles. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space for all clients. Where individuals can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I also incorporate mindfulness practices to help clients build awareness and acceptance of their present moment.

My treatment modalities are evidence-based and also include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Theory.

I have years of experience working with children and teens struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, ASD, ADHD,

interpersonal difficulties, life transitions, grief, loss, and with individuals who identify as queer, non-binary. By integrating trauma-informed care, I ensure that healing is approached with sensitivity to past experiences and their impact on mental health. The person-centered aspect of my work emphasizes the importance of empathy, respect, and collaboration, allowing each individual to feel heard and empowered in their journey toward growth and well-being.

What you can expect from me

In our first telehealth session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy. I will provide you with a safe and non-judgmental space where you can express yourself freely. Your feelings, experiences, and concerns are valid, and they deeply matter. No matter the challenges that are present, I will listen and support you. Then, together, we will create a treatment plan that best fits your needs. My primary goal is to support you in building a healthier relationship with yourself, fostering self-acceptance and resilience. I also help my clients strengthen their connections with others by developing communication, empathy, and trust in their personal relationships.
