Great to meet you!

I'm Melvin Gaddy, a Licensed therapist with 9 years of experience working with people who have gotten very good at maintaining their best image for the world and juggling more than they would like to. Many of the clients I see are capable and composed, but somewhere along the way they've lost track of who they are and what they actually want.

I got into this through my own experience of learning that letting people in isn't weakness; it's how you get your life back. I've learned when a client gets honest about what they actually need, everything begins to change and that's what has kept me doing and continues to motivate me.

My approach to therapy

I use collaborative and relational approach to therapy and am an active participant in our sessions not just a listener taking notes.

I draw from Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, and Solution-Focused frameworks, which allows me to work on multiple levels at once. I take time to understand where patterns came from, challenge the thoughts that reinforce them and build concrete strategies to move forward.

What that looks like in practice is a session that flows naturally between reflection and action. We might spend time unpacking what's underneath a pattern that keeps showing up in your relationships or your work, and in the same session, identify specific tools to shift it.

I tailor the work to you. Your pace, your goals and your way of making sense of things The goal isn't just insight, it's actual steps that genuinely changes something.

What you can expect from me

The first session is open and flexible and an chance to get a real picture of who you are not just what brought you in.

I'll ask thorough questions about your history, your relationships, how you move through the world, and what you actually want your life to look and feel like.

From there, we'll start to look at how your thoughts, feelings, and past experiences connect and where those connections are working against you.

By the end of the session, you'll have a clearer sense of the patterns we'll be working on and what our work together will focus on.

First sessions can feel a little vulnerable. That's normal so you don't have to have everything figured out before you come in.
