Great to meet you!

I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals restore personal, social, family, and work relationships. I've supported hundreds facing trauma, LGBTQIA+ issues, anxiety, depression, divorce, and parenting challenges.

I am a board-certified (NBCC) psychotherapist and mental health consultant.

I do not provide crisis services, which include those with current suicidal or homicidal thoughts including recent psychiatric hospital commitment.

My approach to therapy

Dr. Mia Carr is authorized to provide mental health diagnostic evaluations along with psychotherapy services in the states of Virginia and Maryland.

She uses a combination of Reality Therapy, Social Ecological Model and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to encourage behavior modification that can serve as a resource to help adults, families and parents’ mange difficult behaviors and can assist adults in making positive changes in their lives.

What you can expect from me

During our initial meeting, you will have the chance to ask me any questions about the therapy process and how I use therapeutic skills.

I will provide you with information on the therapy process and the subsequent steps involved. This will help you to determine if we are a good match. My hope is that we can collaborate so that I can tailor your sessions to meet your needs.
