Great to meet you!

Greetings, I'm Dr. Michael Whiteside II. I'm an innovative mental health expert specializing in interpersonal relationships involving family, marital, peer, romantic, and occupational dynamics. My work involves assisting individuals and agencies in recognizing, dissecting, and understanding the mechanics and the impact that relationships have on individual satisfaction and overall fulfillment. I am a compassionate, communal, and comedic Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping others regain control of their life and living life to the fullest. Together, we will partner in helping you have a life worth living by understanding how the pain of the past is interrupting the present and jeopardizing the future.

My approach to therapy

I use a variety of therapeutic approaches to meet the patient’s unique needs while focusing mainly on the implicit and nonconscious aspects of life that contribute and create suffering. Utilizing a combination of CBT, psychodynamic interpersonal, self-psychological, strengths-based, and ecological perspectives, I aim to help the client identify their greatest goals when addressing their traumas, fears, and psychological challenges. Together we investigate their past in order to understand how these past challenges are developing in the present and jeopardizing their future. I empower them to reclaim their inner power and live the life they desire, not simply the one they live. I wholeheartedly believe in seeing the full person, assessing their suffering in their unique cultural experience, and proving care that matters most to the patient and the patient’s priorities.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I focus on getting to know you in a way that allows you to feel comfortable to share as much or as little as your feel safe enough to share. Together, we will discuss the current challenges, how these challenges are affecting you, generalizable approaches that may best serve you, goals for our work together, and things to celebrate your progress along the way. I ask that you simply just show up, we can develop the rest together.
