Great to meet you!

"Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards." Soren Kierkegaard

Unfortunately, most of us have been impacted by a traumatic experience or by multiple traumatic events.

Very few of us are immune.

Thus, the need for Shadow Work.

As a Certified Trauma Psychotherapist and LCSW-C (#11130) for close to 30 years, I have had the privilege of working with people who are invested in undergoing the journey of untangling past trauma in order to excavate, illuminate, and cultivate a new sense of Self. As a Resilience Practitioner, who is primarily psychodynamically-oriented, I embody an integrative approach as each person seeking assistance has unique needs.

My approach to therapy

Having a deep respect for the inherent strength of resilience, I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma caused by: medical, relational, childhood. infidelity, divorce/separation, community violence, accidents/natural disasters, loss/grief, and narcissism--to name a few. Throughout my career, I have not only provided clinical services to individual clients, but have also served as a Trauma Consultant for several educational systems that were directly impacted by school-based violence resulting in the tragic loss of life. I provided trauma-informed crisis interventions to facilitate the healing process for the parents, children, and school personnel who were deeply affected by these radical expressions of violence which significantly challenged the sense of safety to self, home, and community.

I also have extensive training and experience in the realm of healing via non-ordinary states of consciousness. Many of my clients are individuals who have not had space adequately held and/or the powerful and often ego-dissolving experience was not adequately integrated, leaving them with a disconnected, fragmented, and oftentimes, incredibly anxious and uprooted sense of Self.

Lastly, as a Maryland board-approved supervisor for social workers and counselors, I provide the much needed mentorship and guidance to those individuals entering this incredibly challenging and incredibly rewarding line of work. It is an area in which I am deeply committed in order to do my part to shape the next generations of practitioners.

What you can expect from me

When we meet, you can expect to be invited into a judgment-free space in order to explore the underlying etiology and functions of certain patterned behaviors which you find are not moving you closer to your life goals.

At your own pace, we will explore these patterns to obtain an understanding of the roles they play in achieving undesired outcomes. I will assist you in understanding these parts as you cultivate your new Sense of Self that will help guide you through a healthier and more fulfilling life journey.
