Great to meet you!

Hello, I have a background in trauma and crisis work, as I have worked in the ER, psychiatric ER, and inpatient psychiatric unit for the past 6 years. Prior to that, I did mostly grief work and focused on death, dying, & meaning making. I did my masters of Social Work at Boston University and my Masters of Divinity at Duke University. My approach is a mixture of CBT, mindfulness, and psychotherapy through a trauma informed lens.

My approach to therapy

I conduct what is called trauma informed therapy within a loose format of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) & mindfulness acceptance. I focus on the unhealthy coping mechanisms we have developed as a way to make it in this world. I recognize that these were developed from past experiences. These range from conflict avoidance, poor boundaries & substance use, to OCD tendencies, self-harm, & eating disorders. This can often lead to depression, poor self image, & anxiety.

What you can expect from me

I like to have a collaborative approach in my practice, taking into account what YOU want to focus on. Although my practice is loosely based in CBT, mindfulness, and psychotherapy, I am open to and welcome feedback if you are uncomfortable with my approach or want to try something different. What my approach entails: CBT focuses on rewiring negative thought patterns while mindfulness builds awareness of our thoughts and feelings and psychotherapy helps us to understand where they come from.
