Great to meet you!

I'm Morgan Oakes, MA, LMHC, a licensed therapist in WA, MD, IA, and DE. I work with teens, young adults, and adults facing challenges like grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, phobias, ADHD, and more. My approach is honest, direct, and supportive — I’ll meet you where you are at, help you clarify your goals, and challenge you to grow in ways that feel real and sustainable.

My practice, Gut Check, is built on the belief that real change takes guts. If you’re ready to do the work, I’m here to do it with you.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I draw from a range of evidence-based methods including CBT, TF-CBT, trauma-informed care, exposure and response prevention (ERP), motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and person-centered work. Therapy with me is active and collaborative — it’s not about fixing you, it’s about helping you build the life you want with intention, strength, and truth.

What you can expect from our first session

Working with me means showing up, getting honest, and doing the real work. I’m a direct, engaged therapist who won’t just nod and take notes — I’ll ask hard questions, listen without judgment, and help you push past stuck points. Therapy with me is active, collaborative, and built around your goals. You can expect evidence-based tools, creative strategies, and a space where you’re challenged and supported to grow. I meet you where you are — and walk with you as you move forward.
