Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the District of Columbia. I am also a certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors. I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Georgia and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the George Washington University.

I have worked in private practice since 2020 providing individual therapy to adults. I have experience working with clients with depression, anxiety, self-worth and self-esteem issues, bicultural/multicultural concerns, acculturation stress, life transitions, identity exploration, pervasive concerns in academic performance, family conflicts, and interpersonal relationships.

In addition, I have experience working with individuals with marginalized identities, such as immigrants, racial/ethnic and gender minorities.

I am mindful and sensitive to the multicultural issues and how various societal factors can impact individuals.

My approach to therapy

I take an eclectic approach, as I incorporate elements from Person Centered, Cognitive Theory (CT) and Schema Therapy (ST) into sessions. I work with clients in strengthening their awareness and better understand their thought processes, cognitive distortions, where these beliefs came from, and the impact those beliefs have had on them. Once the thought processed and cognitive distortions beliefs are identified I then assist clients challenging their cognitive distortions and develop the skills needed for meaningful change and personal growth.

I incorporate cultural humility into practice, in which I make a continuous effort to learn about various cultures and cultural perspectives, utilize culturally appropriate approaches, and hold a humble awareness that I will never be able to know all there is about other cultures.

I view counseling as a collaborative process. I see my primary role is in assisting and providing unconditional support for my clients as we embark on a journey toward growth, self-awareness, and healing. While I will assist my clients in identifying, assessing issues and setting reasonable, practical, achievable goals, I believe it is ultimately up to the client to implement the plan into action. In addition, I strive in my practice to create a safe, compassionate, nonjudgmental, genuine, supportive environment where exploration, growth, and healing can take place.

What you can expect from me

I offer a 30-minute free video consultation to assist in assessing therapeutic fit between the client and I. If after the consultation, we both feel we are a good fit we will move towards scheduling the first session.

In our first session, we will take time to build rapport, further explore what brings you into therapy, brainstorm and establish treatment goals.
