Great to meet you!

I'm Nastassja Hanna, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and founder of Lumen Counseling, providing online therapy, teletherapy, and telehealth counseling throughout Pennsylvania. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, OCD, intrusive thoughts, overthinking, perfectionism, trauma and PTSD, depression, BPD and emotional dysregulation, relationship problems, and life transitions. You may find yourself constantly worrying, replaying conversations, checking or seeking reassurance, struggling with racing thoughts, avoiding things that make you anxious, or feeling overwhelmed by intense emotions or painful experiences. I seek to understand you beyond your symptoms by considering the experiences, relationships, beliefs, strengths, and patterns shaping your life. My clinical background includes outpatient, college, substance use, and family-based mental health settings, and I bring compassion, analytical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and practical problem-solving to our work.

My approach to therapy

I believe effective therapy goes beyond talking about problems; it involves understanding the thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and patterns keeping you stuck while developing practical strategies for meaningful change. My approach is warm, analytical, collaborative, and individualized. I use evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, intrusive thoughts, checking, and reassurance-seeking; Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma and PTSD; and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for anxiety, emotional regulation, avoidance, and intense emotions. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment-based, strengths-based, and solution-focused approaches based on your individual needs. My focus extends beyond symptom relief to strengthening self-awareness, emotional resilience, relationships, and intentional decision-making. Christian counseling and faith-integrated therapy are available upon request.

What you can expect from me

My therapeutic style combines attentive listening, genuine curiosity, thoughtful analysis, compassion, and practical guidance. I look beneath the surface to identify patterns, connections, and contributing factors while creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and appropriately challenged. Our first session will focus on understanding your concerns, history, strengths, relationships, and goals so we can develop an individualized treatment plan. From there, we'll work on building practical coping skills, changing unhealthy patterns, strengthening emotional regulation, and applying what you learn in therapy to everyday life. My role is not to make decisions for you, but to help you gain clarity, consider different perspectives, and navigate anxiety, difficult emotions, relationships, and life challenges with greater confidence and intentionality.
