Great to meet you!

I’m a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP-BC), and I’ve spent my career caring for people during some of the most challenging chapters of their lives.

My background includes outpatient psychiatry, telehealth, addiction medicine, medical detox, residential treatment, and high-acuity medical care. I’ve worked with people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, ADHD, substance use disorders, and complex co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions.

What I love most about this work is getting to know the person behind the symptoms. Your mental health doesn't exist in a vacuum, so I look at the bigger picture—including your physical health, medications, sleep, stress, lifestyle, substance use, and the things that may be affecting how you feel day to day.

My style is warm, straightforward, and down-to-earth. I’ll listen without judgment, explain things in plain English, and give you my honest clinical perspective. My goal is to help you feel heard, understand what's happening, and create a treatment plan that actually makes sense for your life.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, collaborative, practical, and evidence-based. I don't believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach to psychiatric care, and I take the time to understand your symptoms, history, goals, lifestyle, and preferences before developing a treatment plan.

I believe medication should be a tool—not the entire treatment plan. I’ll explain why I’m recommending something, what you can expect, potential side effects, and what your alternatives are. I also incorporate non-medication strategies when appropriate.

I’m particularly interested in the connection between psychiatric medications and physical health. If you've experienced unwanted weight gain, changes in appetite, or difficulty managing your weight after starting a psychiatric medication, we can look at the bigger picture together and discuss evidence-based options when clinically appropriate.

For transparency, I do not prescribe controlled stimulant medications or benzodiazepines. For ADHD, I provide thoughtful assessment and, when appropriate, offer non-stimulant treatment options and other evidence-based strategies. For anxiety, I focus on effective non-benzodiazepine approaches that support long-term stability.

I want you to feel comfortable being honest about what's going on. You don't have to have everything figured out before we meet—that's what we're here to work through together.

What you can expect from me

In our first appointment, we'll talk about what's been going on, your psychiatric and medical history, current medications, previous treatment experiences, substance use history when relevant, and what you'd like to change.

I'll ask thoughtful and direct questions so we can understand the bigger picture. We'll then work together to create a clear treatment plan based on your needs and goals.

Addiction medicine is an important part of my practice and an area I’m particularly passionate about. I specialize in medication-assisted treatment (MAT), including Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) for opioid use disorder and oral naltrexone for alcohol and other appropriate substance use disorders. I also use other evidence-based medication and non-medication approaches to help with cravings, withdrawal, relapse prevention, and long-term recovery.

I have extensive experience caring for people in detox, residential treatment, and ongoing recovery, including patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. My goal is to make treatment feel supportive and practical—not punitive or judgmental.

You can expect me to be kind, honest, curious, and direct. If something isn't working, we'll talk about it. If there's a better option, we'll explore it. And if you're doing well, we don't need to change something just for the sake of changing it.

Most importantly, you should feel like we're on the same team. My goal is to help you feel heard, understand your options, and build a treatment plan that fits your actual life.
