Great to meet you!

Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Certified Perinatal Mental Health clinician (PMH-C), and Approved Clinical Supervisor in the State of Maryland. I have 20+ years of cumulative experience working in a variety of capacities serving individuals, families, and couples through difficulties experienced with mental health due to navigating life challenges, relationship discord, and other issues that may arise.

My complicated journey towards motherhood shifted my focus towards holistic wellness for mothers, birthing individuals, and families of Color as am a PMH-C. Additionally, I am a doctoral student at Bowie State University in the Counselor Education and Supervision Program with a Concentration in Social Justice Counseling whose research is focused on Black Maternal and Black Parental Mental Health.

I am also a Board member for Stillbirth Awareness and Infant Loss Support (SAILS); a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping those who have lost their child by letting them know that they are not alone. Lastly, I have been an active volunteer clinician and clinical supervisor with Pro Bono Counseling since April 2022 as well as has been a member of Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA)’s Maryland Women of Color Network for the last year.

My approach to therapy

I create a space for hope and healing that allows for self-discovery, empowerment, and collaboration that reinforces the importance of communal healing instead of feeling alone through your respective circumstances. I also incorporate expressive arts, meditation, and a wellness-focused approach into my therapy offerings to provide support, insight, and skills curated for the unique experiences of people of Color.

I have treated clinical problems that include Perinatal Mental Health, Depression, Anxiety, childhood trauma, Adjustment Disorders, physical and sexual abuse, ADHD, Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Personality Disorders. I also have experience with transgenerational trauma and racism-related issues, parent-child relational problems, academic failure, problematic social media use, self-injurious and suicidal behaviors, relationship issues, and issues that members of the LGBTQIA+ community experience that may complicate their lives and relationships.

I have provided a wealth of counseling interventions, including person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy, dialectical-behavior therapy, brief psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal therapy, behavior modification, solution-focused brief therapy, and motivational interviewing. I have used counseling techniques from these varied theoretical approaches, grounded in feminist theory; and use evidence-based interventions that are trauma-focused, understanding how unresolved grief and trauma our lives can be impacted without the support of someone who can walk with you versus talk at you.

What you can expect from me

I create a space that allows you to feel heard, valued, respected, and understood in a way that you may not have experienced with other therapists. Understanding that coming into therapy may be a scary or unfamiliar experience, I focus on promoting comfort and ease in rapport building from the beginning and throughout the therapeutic relationship. I provide a warm, compassionate, and caring environment for healing that reflects my authenticity and passion for helping others as they learn to better help themselves; where you are the expert in the room, and I am a copilot on your journey to wellness and life satisfaction.
