Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Nerkissa Dixon, EdD, MSN, CRNP, PMHNP-BC, founder of Calming Reflections Psychiatry. I’m a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with a background in providing thoughtful, patient-centered care across a variety of clinical settings.

I created my practice to offer a more personalized and supportive mental health experience—one where you don’t feel rushed, overlooked, or reduced to just a diagnosis. I take time to truly listen and understand what you’re going through, so we can develop a treatment plan that feels right for you.

My approach combines medication management with supportive, conversation-based care, allowing space to talk through life stressors, emotional patterns, and challenges while also addressing symptoms in a structured and effective way. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, mood changes, stress, or feeling overwhelmed, I aim to help you feel more balanced, clear, and in control.

My goal is to create a calm, welcoming environment where you feel comfortable being open and supported throughout your journey.

Seeking help can feel like a big step—but you don’t have to navigate it alone. I’m here to support you in a way that feels collaborative, steady, and tailored to your needs.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is warm, collaborative, and highly individualized. I believe meaningful progress starts with feeling comfortable enough to be open, so I focus on creating a space where you feel heard, understood, and never rushed.

I combine thoughtful medication management with supportive, conversation-based care, allowing us to address both symptoms and the underlying stressors that impact your day-to-day life. Our sessions are not just about prescriptions—they’re also a space to process, reflect, and build insight in a way that feels practical and supportive.

I take a measured and intentional approach to treatment, starting with a clear understanding of your needs and goals. From there, we work together to develop a plan that feels manageable and aligned with your lifestyle. As we continue, I provide ongoing guidance, adjustments, and support to help you feel more balanced, stable, and confident over time.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is designed to feel calm, welcoming, and unhurried. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns openly, without pressure or judgment.

We’ll start by talking through what brought you in, along with your current symptoms, medical history, stressors, and any relevant history. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to better understand your experiences, but the conversation will feel natural and collaborative—not like an interrogation.

By the end of the session, you can expect:

A clearer understanding of what may be contributing to how you’re feeling

Initial impressions and recommendations tailored to your needs

A personalized treatment plan, which may include medication, supportive care, or both

Time to ask questions and feel confident about next steps

If medication is appropriate, we’ll discuss options in a way that feels transparent and comfortable, so you can make an informed decision. There’s never pressure—just guidance and support.

Most importantly, you can expect to leave your first session feeling heard, understood, and reassured that you have a clear path forward. My goal is to make the process feel approachable and supportive from the very beginning.
