Great to meet you!

I had a lot of resistance to meeting my first therapist. Not only may he judge me, but maybe he won't “get it” or understand me.

I hope to create the complete opposite experience. My goal is to first understand without judgment. I believe therapeutic change happens under similar conditions that I enjoy eating a burrito: a judge free zone where it’s safe to be messy. You can expect my style to reflect core values of empathy and authenticity wrapped in a soft shell of playful fun and humor.

My approach to therapy

Once you feel that I “get it,” we can identify and bolster your natural strengths and resources. This is what a true strengths-based approach looks like. What we need is often a different approach: action-oriented, emotionally-informed, and solution-focussed.

We focus on experiencing the change that we want to have in the therapy room rather than just talking about it. When we experience a positive change in ourselves in therapy, then we can better act out that change in our outside lives.

What you can expect from me

Most of the time we arrive in therapy discouraged about our “problems” and our failures to “think our way out” of them. My goal is that you leave each session feeling encouraged having seen a way forward and knowing how to create the positive change that you are seeking.

If you would like more information about what it’s like to work with me or the approaches that I use including: EMDR, solution-focussed therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, etc. Please do not hesitate to reach out!
