Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Niesha Gowens, LCSW, LISW-CP. I work with individuals, couples, and adolescents 16 and up navigating anxiety, trauma, family dynamics, and the kind of stress that builds up when life throws a lot at you at once.

I hold a Master's degree and bring six years of clinical experience to my work with clients. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I strive to create a space where every client feels seen, respected, and safe to do the real work of therapy.

If you're looking for a therapist who will meet you with honesty, hold space for the hard stuff, and walk alongside you as you build something better — I'd love to work with you.

My approach to therapy

My approach is direct — I'll be honest with you, ask hard questions, and won't just nod along if I think something's worth pushing on. But that directness comes from a place of care, not judgment. I believe real growth happens when someone feels safe enough to be challenged and supported at the same time.

I use trauma-informed CBT to help clients build practical tools for managing anxiety, processing difficult histories, and navigating relationships — with family, partners, or themselves — in healthier ways. I hold a Master's degree and have six years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, and adolescents 16 and up. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I'm committed to creating a space where clients of all identities and backgrounds feel safe to do this work honestly.

What you can expect from me

Your first session with me is about getting to know each other. I'll ask about what's bringing you in, your history, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy — and you'll get a feel for how I work, so we can both decide if we're a good fit. I create a space that's warm but honest; you won't get empty validation from me, but you will get someone fully in your corner.

By the end of our first session, my goal is for you to leave with a clearer sense of what we'll be working on together and what the path forward might look like — even if that path isn't fully mapped out yet. From there, we'll build a plan that's specific to you, whether that means processing trauma, managing anxiety, working through a relationship, or navigating a life transition, and we'll check in regularly to make sure it's actually working, not just going through the motions.
