Great to meet you!

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse practitioner, I am a skilled mental health specialist with years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in the medical field. My skill in medication management and prescribing comes from my experiences across different sectors of healthcare has significantly strengthened my interpersonal and empathic skills. My career in the mental health and medical field began in an entry-level nursing role, and I have progressively advanced throughout my career. This bottom-up experience has been invaluable, allowing me to collaborate with a wide range of healthcare professionals and gain diverse experiences across various healthcare settings.

I am passionate about providing excellent patient care and have experience in conducting mental health assessments, diagnosing, and developing individualized treatment plans that includes prescribing and monitoring medications. I hold a Bachelors in Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland and a Masters of Science in Nursing from Walden University. I am also a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

As a knowledgeable practitioner and a good listener, I pride myself on my ability to connect with individuals. My goal is to always be approachable and provide optimism, ideas, and support as clients figure things out. My style involves asking clarifying questions to ensure effective two-way communication and using simple language by avoiding overly complex terminology. My desire to support others in navigating their life challenges influenced my desire to pursue a career in mental health.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is patient-centered, collaborative, and evidence-based. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to actively participate in their treatment.

My style is warm, empathetic, and culturally sensitive. I focus on building strong therapeutic relationships, as I believe trust is essential for meaningful progress. I incorporate evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care when appropriate.

I have a particular focus on treating anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and stress-related conditions across the lifespan. I bring a holistic perspective that considers biological, psychological, and social factors influencing mental health.

I also emphasize continuity and accessibility of care through timely follow-ups, ongoing symptom monitoring, and open communication via the platform. My goal is to support clients in achieving stability, improving functioning, and enhancing overall quality of life.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect their first session with me to be welcoming, structured, and focused on understanding their unique needs. I prioritize creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their concerns at their own pace.

During the initial session, I conduct a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, which includes discussing current symptoms, past mental health and medical history, medications, lifestyle factors, and any relevant social or environmental influences. I also take time to understand the client’s goals for treatment and what they hope to achieve.

By the end of the session, clients can expect to have a clearer understanding of their symptoms and potential diagnoses, as well as an initial, collaborative treatment plan. This may include medication management, therapy recommendations, coping strategies, and education about their condition.

I typically set short-term goals such as symptom stabilization, improved daily functioning, and establishing healthy coping mechanisms, while also working toward long-term goals like sustained emotional well-being and overall quality of life. My goal is for clients to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and confident about the next steps in their care.
