Great to meet you!

With over 20 years of experience, I've had the privilege of sitting with people through some of life's hardest chapters — and watching them find their way through. I'm Olja Haglund, a Licensed Master Social Worker based in Michigan. I work with adults only, and I bring a warm, direct presence to every session. I speak both English and Albanian fluently and welcome clients from Albanian-speaking communities across Michigan and beyond. I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions — so wherever you are in Michigan, we can make this work. My specialties include trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, codependency, and women's issues. I believe healing is possible for everyone, and I'm here to help you find your version of it.

My approach to therapy

I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches — CBT, trauma-focused CBT, motivational interviewing, ACT, and mindfulness — but what matters most is figuring out together what actually works for you. Some clients need concrete tools and a structured path forward. Others need room to process and feel truly heard. Most need both. I don't have a one-size-fits-all approach, because you're not a one-size-fits-all person. I pay close attention to what you tell me — and what you don't — and I adapt as we go. My role is to be your collaborator, not your instructor.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is about getting to know each other — not checking boxes. I'll ask questions, but there's no pressure to share more than you're ready for. We'll talk about what's been weighing on you, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping to feel or do differently. By the end of session one, you'll have a clear sense of whether this feels like the right fit — and I'll share my honest thoughts on how I think I can help. Most people leave the first session feeling a little lighter. Not because everything is solved, but because they were genuinely heard. That's where we start.
