Great to meet you!

My name is Olja Haglund. I am a a Licensed Master Social Worker located in Grand Rapids, MI. I have over 20 years of professional experience working with people and specializes in supporting clients going through trauma, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, codependency, and more. These experiences may feel overwhelming, leading an individual to reach out for broader therapeutic support.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing. Clients learn more about their automatic thought patterns and how those thoughts influence their emotions or their actions. They also begin to recognize how ready they are to make healthy changes in their lives. I also incorporate mindfulness practices into sessions, teaching clients how to ground themselves in the present and grow their self-awareness. My aim as a therapist is to create a space that’s judgment free and feels emotionally safe for clients. As a collaborator, I help clients utilize psychological tools to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

What you can expect from me

Taking the first step toward support is an act of real courage, and I am so glad you're here. I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and the kind of life transitions that can leave you feeling unsteady or overwhelmed. Whether you're carrying something heavy from your past or facing a chapter of life that feels uncertain, you've come to the right place. My approach is warm, relational, and collaborative. I believe that healing happens within a safe, trusting relationship, and I am genuinely invested in getting to know you — not just your struggles, but your strengths, your story, and what matters most to you. Our work together will be a partnership, and I'll show up for you with both compassion and honesty as we explore what's been weighing on you and what you're hoping for. Something I hold close in my work is this: change is possible. I know it may not feel that way right now — and that's okay. Many of the people I work with arrive feeling stuck, exhausted, or like hope is just out of reach. But growth doesn't have to be grand to be real, and even the smallest shifts can open up something new. It would be one of my greatest honors to walk alongside you in that journey.
