Great to meet you!

Are you looking for a safe, supportive space to navigate life's challenges and reconnect with your authentic self? Welcome to Original Counseling Services, a private practice dedicated to helping individuals heal, grow, and rediscover the original, whole version of themselves.

My name is Dr. Ori Onazi, I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland and Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia with over eight years of experience in mental health counseling, education, and research. My background includes school counseling, outpatient psychotherapy, and counselor education, allowing me to provide compassionate, evidence-based care grounded in both clinical expertise and cultural understanding.

I specialize in working with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, relationship challenges, and life transitions. As a first-generation African immigrant, I am especially passionate about supporting individuals navigating cultural identity, immigration experiences, family dynamics, and other challenges often faced by underserved communities.

I believe healing begins when people feel seen, heard, and empowered. Whether you are seeking support, personal growth, or lasting change, I am here to help you move forward with confidence and purpose.

You deserve care that honors every part of who you are. I'm here when you're ready.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and tailored to your unique needs. I integrate evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. For clients who desire it, I also offer faith-integrated counseling.

What you can expect from me

I believe that therapy is a collaborative process that thrives on trust, honesty, vulnerability, and a willingness to engage in self-reflection. My counseling style is warm, supportive, and person-centered, while also offering the direct guidance and accountability needed to foster meaningful growth. I specializes in helping first-generation immigrants navigate complex family dynamics, establish and maintain healthy boundaries, overcome cultural barriers, and develop a stronger sense of identity and emotional well-being.
