Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Otoniel, or “Toni,” Calderon. I’m a Texas-born, bilingual therapist of Mexican descent who provides therapy in both English and Spanish. I’m passionate about helping people navigate trauma, anxiety, emotional regulation, relationships, communication, anger, and the challenges that can leave us feeling stuck or disconnected from ourselves.

As someone who has experienced childhood trauma and my own journey toward healing, I understand how difficult it can be to carry painful experiences while trying to build a fulfilling life. I bring that understanding, along with compassion, authenticity, and a genuine respect for each person’s unique story, into my work with clients.

Therapy is a collaborative process, and I believe you deserve a space where you can feel safe, understood, and accepted without judgment. Wherever you are in your journey, you don't have to have everything figured out before reaching out. I would be honored to walk alongside you as you develop greater self-understanding, heal from past experiences, and move toward the life you want to create.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. I believe you are the expert on your own experience, and my role is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where we can explore what you’re experiencing together. I draw from trauma-informed, somatic, cognitive, mindfulness-based, and experiential approaches, incorporating methods such as CBT, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, IFS, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing when they fit your needs.

I’m interested not only in what is happening, but in understanding why certain patterns developed and how they may continue to affect your thoughts, emotions, body, relationships, and behaviors. Together, we can develop greater self-awareness, build emotional and nervous-system regulation, process difficult experiences, and create healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges.

I don’t believe therapy should be about forcing you to change who you are. Instead, I see it as an opportunity to better understand yourself, heal what has been wounded, reconnect with yourself, and move toward a life that feels more authentic and meaningful.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a warm and welcoming introduction to therapy, in English or Spanish—whichever feels more like home. We’ll begin with a mental health assessment so I can better understand what’s happening in your life, while you remain in control of what you’re ready to share. From there, we’ll begin identifying what you hope to work on and co-create goals for therapy. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, understood, and clearer about where we go from here.
