Great to meet you!

Hello, I have been providing mental health, substance abuse, and trauma (PTSD) services for 29 years. I graduated with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Antioch New England University after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science from the University of Maine at Machias. I've worked with clients from all walks of life and ethnicities, LGBTQI, and many life's issues, (i.e., stress, divorce, trauma and abuse, adoptions, AA and Alanon learned, Harm Reducton, and more. I see my role as one who can help you navigate the waters of your life.

My approach to therapy

At the core of my counseling philosophy is the idea the belief that all individuals have an innate ability to improve their lives. I work mainly from a Cognitive Behavioral Treatment model, whereby recognizing that How We Think, affects How We Feel, and resultantly How We Behave. I have also been Internationally Certified as a Trauma Professional and have had in-depth training regarding trauma. I've also worked for over 10 years for two Maine Indigenous Peoples Tribes and also in Alaska.

What you can expect from me

In the initial session, I'll work with you to identify your top two to three goals you want to focus on in future sessions. I'll review the confidentiality boundaries and limitations with you and obtain your informed consent. I'll answer questions about the process and what to expect. Mainly, I just want to get to know you and figure out how I can help you with whatever issues bring you to counseling at this time in your life.
