Great to meet you!

Welcome to my practice!

My name is Dr. Patricia Montoya. I've been a Licensed Psychologist for nearly 23-years. I have extensive experience working with varied populations and age groups (18 >). My diverse background includes working with trauma/PTSD, multicultural/diversity issues, anxiety, existential or transitional issues, depression, and relational problems as applied to individuals and couples.

My approach to therapy

Succinctly, my approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is holistic and draws from multiple perspectives. I treat clients as the unique individuals they are and never take a cookie-cutter approach to therapy. This is why the foundation of my approach is person-centered, which means that you are in the drivers seat in determining the focus of your sessions and the speed at which you progress.

I provide affirming care around identity development, cultural and ethnic issues, women’s or men’s issues, and LGBTQ+ concerns, including support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals. Whether you are navigating major life transitions, managing chronic stress, or working through long-standing patterns, therapy can be a space to build insight, strengthen coping skills, and move toward greater stability and self-understanding.

What you can expect from me

A glance at our first session

It isn't unusual for clients to feel a little nervous before their first therapy session. My job is to make you feel welcome, comfortable, and at ease as soon as possible upon meeting me.

In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know you and what brings you in. I’ll ask some questions about your background, current concerns, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy.

We’ll also talk through any questions you have and begin identifying goals so we can move forward in a way that feels supportive and tailored to you. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel at ease starting the process. It's rewarding to see clients after their first sessions, visibly more relaxed, often smiling, and excited to begin their therapeutic journey.
