My approach to therapy is strength-based, neuroscience-informed, brain-body-based, culturally responsive, and spiritually grounded. I believe healing involves more than addressing symptoms—it requires understanding how our experiences are held within the brain, body, relationships, culture, and spirit.
I integrate ancestral wisdom, spirituality, cultural traditions, and evidence-based therapeutic practices, including Somatic Experiencing and Internal Family Systems (IFS), to help individuals understand how trauma, stress, grief, and life experiences have shaped their nervous system and patterns of coping.
I am also the developer of the SawubonaTM Model, an African-centered, neuro-responsive approach to healing grounded in the principle, “I see you. I hear you. I am with you on this journey.” The model incorporates practices such as natural gaze, ancestral wisdom and resourcing, somatic regulation, cultural rituals, spirituality, storytelling, breath, rhythm, and mind-body awareness to support healing and reconnection.
Rather than asking only, “What happened to you?” my approach also explores: “What happened within you? What has helped you survive? What wisdom do you carry? And what does your brain and body need now to heal?”
The goal is healing from the inside out—addressing trauma, strengthening resilience, restoring balance, and helping individuals and communities reconnect with their inherent strengths across mind, body, spirit, culture, and community.
