Great to meet you!

Peter MacIver, Ph.D. is a client-centered psychologist with over 7 years of experience. He specializes in anxiety, ADHD management, and caring for LGBTQ+ folx. He also has extensive training in the treatment of insomnia (sleeplessness). His style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth, and he aims to make therapy feel approachable and supportive. He also values understanding each person’s background and experiences, so care feels respectful and relevant to you. He especially enjoys working with individuals from diverse and marginalized backgrounds (such as BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folx), and strives to create an affirming and inclusive space where you can show up as yourself.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, practical, and tailored to you as a whole person. I work with clients to better understand what’s driving their challenges while also building concrete tools to manage anxiety, improve sleep, and navigate ADHD in everyday life. Sessions are supportive and down-to-earth, with a focus on helping you feel heard while making steady, meaningful progress from a treatment plan. I’m especially attentive to cultural background, identity, and lived experience so therapy feels personalized and relevant.

What you can expect from me

In your first session, you can expect a casual conversation where we focus on getting to know you, what’s bringing you in, and what you’d like to change or improve. We’ll talk through your goals together and begin outlining a plan that feels realistic and supportive. My aim is to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental space where you feel understood and hopeful about your next steps.
