Great to meet you!

I have worked in this field for over 30 years in hospital, residential, day treatment, outpatient and home settings. My experience is primarily with young adults and with families who have children with special needs whether neurotypical or behavioral. I have worked with a lot of adolescents and pre-teens who are having difficulty adjusting to the demands of individuation and separation. It is important to regard everyone's life situation as unique and to support the process of personal awareness and growth.

My approach to therapy

My first intervention is to listen and to learn what the client's issues and goals are. Aside from using EMDR for relaxation and trauma work, I am very behaviorally oriented. That said, given the range of clients and the families I serve, my focus often is a developmental one, recognizing how the client came to be in his/her current situation.

What you can expect from me

I welcome contact to explore the reasons you are seeking to address your personal issues. It takes a certain amount of personal courage to reach out to strangers. After we talk, we can decide if it makes sense to pursue a therapeutic relationship or for me to suggest an alternative.
