Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Limited Licensed Psychologist and I am certified as a School Psychologist. My doctorate is in Counselor Education. I have over 20 years experience providing counseling services in private practice and have worked as a school psychologist for more than two decades. In addition to my clinical experiences, I have served as an Assistant Professor of Teaching at Wayne State University, where I educate and mentor master's level counseling students. My vision is to provide culturally competent, holistic and client focused therapy. I believe in the power of supportive relationships to facilitate positive change and I strive to make tangible differences in the lives of children and adults. To be understood and empowered supports the therapeutic process and it helps one navigate challenges and reach their full potential.

My approach to therapy

I use an eclectic approach and insights from various therapeutic schools of thought and evidence based practices. This is based on the belief that different clients have unique needs. These approaches include Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I address client issues such as depression, anxiety, life role changes/transitions, trauma, relationship challenges and career counseling. I believe in the power of collaborative relationships grounded in respect and non-judgement. I am committed to supporting individuals as they navigate social-emotional challenges and move toward their personal growth and full potential.

What you can expect from me

Therapy is a collaborative journey. Establishing a trusting therapeutic relationship and developing a shared understanding of your concerns is of utmost importance.

I desire to understand you as a whole person—not just the problem/challenge. I will be gathering information about your history, strengths, supports, culture, and current functioning. Gathering this information will help me develop a better understanding of your experiences so I can truly get to know you as a person and provide therapy that is meaningful, individualized, and supportive of your goals.Together, we will explore what brought you to therapy, gain a deeper understanding of the concerns that are affecting your life, and begin identifying the goals you hope to achieve through counseling.
