Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Rachel, and I'm a licensed therapist in Portland, Maine, seeing clients by telehealth statewide. For four years I've worked as a therapist at a busy primary care clinic, sitting with people from every walk of life through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and life transitions. I value and prioritize building trusting relationships and creating a safe, non-judgmental, and grounding space for my clients.

My approach to therapy

My collaborative approach empowers you to take an active role in shaping your life. In our work together, I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, and a strength-based approach, and I tailor my approach to what actually helps you. That might mean noticing the thought patterns that keep anxiety or depression loud, learning to make room for hard feelings instead of fighting them, or building on the strengths you already have while you sort out grief, a major life transition, trauma, or substance use.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is really just a conversation! I'll ask what's bringing you in, what you've already tried, and what your hopes and goals are. From there we will develop a treatment plan together that fits your life and your pace. I keep the tone relaxed rather than clinical.
