Great to meet you!

Greetings! It’s Dr. Rashida Walker, professionally known as Dr. R or Dr. Walker, here to support you on your wellness journey. I have achieved a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and remain licensed as a Professional Counselor in Washington DC, Maryland, and Georgia. As an industry veteran, having worked in behavioral health spaces for well over a decade, I want to acknowledge the courage you are exercising to begin (or continue) your mental well-being journey and I want to ensure that you are finding the right fit. I am the Founder and Lead clinician of The Quiet Uprising Wellness Center, where we specialize in empowering BIPOC individuals facing various mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, boundary and communication struggles, transitions, trauma, and maternal mental health. Additionally, I find great joy in providing affirmative care to LGBTQIA+ identifying individuals and individuals who carry co-morbid physical and mental health conditions. With a commitment to evidence-based approaches and ongoing professional development, I strive to deliver tailored and effective treatment to meet each client's unique needs.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is client centered, warm, creative, and solutions-focused. I utilize a CBT and mindfulness based approach in therapy. I strive to provide a brave space where you will be able to engage in deep reflection, exploration of challenges, and gain confidence to live a more purposeful life and count the joys along the way. I utilize substantiated techniques to help you navigate the challenges of life.

What you can expect from me

Individuals that I work well with are coming in with an investment in change. Those concerns can range from depression, anxiety, trauma, work/academic conflict, gender and sexuality identity, racism, and relationship problems. My goal is to establish a collaborative space where you can explore reflections non-judgmentally while also gaining psychological and practical strategies. My hope is that you build resilience and confidence to manage life stressors and leave with a deeper understanding of oneself and feeling your optimal.
