Great to meet you!

I have been in the counseling field for decades, awarded a MS in Counseling Psychology in 1988 and first licensed in Florida in 1997. I been trained in multiple approaches and am quite flexible. Currently I am licensed in North Carolina and specialize in complex trauma, addiction, and couple issues.

My approach to therapy

I don’t believe lasting changes ever truly come from thinking your way out of pain and self-deception but from getting beneath surface of life into the messiness. That is often disorienting and takes courage and creativity.

I draw on extensive experience in order to challenge you but also to respect the pace that is right for you.

What you can expect from me

I always seek to understand the outcome that you are pursuing, and typically start a session by clarifying what you wish to achieve so that there is a clear focus to the time we have to spend. I hope to direct you beyond the cognitive narrative into what you are warmed up to.

Internal Family Systems theorizes that there must be preponderance of Self in the therapy setting if we are to heal. That boils down to staying curious, open, accepting and compassionate. And I focus on bringing that state to my clients, especially when they experiencing emotional disregulation.
