Great to meet you!

My interest in psychology led me to to a full 16 years of formal study in Psychiatry, Sociology and Counseling, as well as a lifetime of problem solving for myself and others. This body of knowledge increased exponentially in formal counseling, and continues to evolve. It informs the complex work of helping a wide-ranging set of problems. I move as quickly as the client is comfortable with, to get to the root of issues, and shorten the journey toward experiencing a better, more informed quality of life.

My approach to therapy

There is overlap in all therapy, but the underlying principles are universal. The body of knowledge continues to evolve. The mind/body connection, impact of ACES, breadth of attachment implications, and advances in Neurology are a few of these. All work with clients is rooted in these underpinnings. To this body of knowledge, I work in a variety of modalities, which may encompass Motivational Interviewing, re-framing, and practical workarounds, to the use of the Enneagram, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and even dream work, as an adjunct to Internal Family Systems for the deep healing of trauma from old wounds. Narrative therapy is a rewriting of the story, and often a capstone.

What you can expect from me

I am interactive, and clients will quickly feel at home with me. I encourage clients to just tell their stories, and explain their issues. It does not need to be linear. I will get to all of it as we go forward. Silences can be important as we know each other better, but I am engaged, and proactive. I do not want clients to leave a session feeling insecure about things they have told me. I will discuss this and normalize it, and address and take time and care that there is no lingering awkwardness, as we get better acquainted. I move as quickly as clients are comfortable with, and will employ basic psycho-education, where it can help explain, re-frame, and address an issue. I am dedicated to ensuring that every single session adds insight, deepens the client's understanding of their makeup, moves the goal toward healthy change, and gives food for thought.
