Great to meet you!

I know how hard it can be to reach out for help when you're struggling so thank you for taking the time to read my info! I have worked as a professor for over 20 years training future counselors to work with people from all walks of life and researching cultural stressors that can lead to disordered eating attitudes and behaviors in Black and Brown communities. I specialize in working with diverse teens and adults dealing with anxiety and depression related to body image concerns, eating disorder struggles, emotional overeating or the impact of chronic illness on one's body. I also work with individuals experiencing other significant life events such as going to college, moving to a new country or state, parenting, career transitions, divorce or grief/loss. Please reach out to me for more information if interested.

My approach to therapy

I draw from different styles of therapy—including person-centered, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, solution-focused, relational cultural and strengths based practices—to create a safe, supportive and inclusive space where you can feel heard and understood, set goals for growth, develop effective coping skills and develop a passion for living your best life.

What you can expect from me

I truly believe that every challenge we face helps shape who we are. My goal is to help you uncover and address what is causing you to feel anxious or depressed, learn how to move through these challenges, build resilience and create a better version of yourself.
