Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome. I'm Renee Davis, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor serving Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and D.C. As a Black woman therapist, I support adults facing depression, anxiety, stress, and self-esteem struggles, and I'm especially passionate about career transitions and finding purpose.

That passion is personal. I spent nearly two decades in federal law enforcement and security before becoming a therapist, so I know what it's like to question who you are outside of your work and what comes next.

Together, we can build a kinder relationship with yourself. That might mean healing guilt and shame, easing workplace stress or loneliness, working through trauma, or strengthening communication in your relationships. I have a special heart for women in seasons of change, from young adulthood to midlife.

I am EMDR-trained and hold a PsyD. I draw from Narrative Therapy, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, always shaped around you. I bring cultural responsiveness to every session.

You set the pace here, and you'll be truly heard. When you're ready, I'd be glad to walk alongside you.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I'm here to listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and help you see your story with fresh eyes.

I often use Narrative Therapy to help you separate yourself from the problem and rewrite the stories that keep you stuck, especially around work, identity, and self-worth. As an EMDR-trained therapist, I can also help you process painful memories so they lose their grip. When emotions feel overwhelming, I draw from DBT for practical coping and regulation skills. Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing keep us moving toward what you want, at a pace that feels right.

Culture, identity, and lived experience matter here. I make space to talk about how they shape your life, including experiences of discrimination.

Sessions are a mix of reflection and practical tools. You'll leave with more clarity, more compassion for yourself, and a next step you believe in.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is about getting to know each other. There's no pressure to have the right words or tell your whole story at once. We'll start wherever feels most comfortable for you.

I'll ask about what brought you here, what's weighing on you, and what you'd like to be different. I'll also make time for your questions about me, how I work, and what therapy with me will look like.

Together, we'll begin shaping a few goals that matter to you. Those might be feeling less anxious day-to-day, finding direction in your career, or simply feeling more like yourself again. We'll revisit these goals as we go, so therapy stays focused on what you need.

My hope is that you leave feeling heard, a little lighter, and with a clearer sense of whether we're a good fit. Taking this first step matters, and I'll meet you with respect and care.
