Great to meet you!

I love working with children (6 years and older), teens and young adults; I have been most effective using art and therapeutic play with my clients, I am skilled in developing rapport, trust, and an emotional safe space which paves the way for a therapeutic relationship where I am able to understand their needs and address them together, and for young ones work with parents to improve relationships and functioning. Most of my 25 years of experience has been in a variety of therapeutic educational settings, primarily with teens and young adults.

There is suffering in the human condition, and understanding the impact of their experiences is a necessary step toward processing events and experiences that are impacting the person.

My approach to therapy

I am a relational and strength-based therapist. The way I am able to create a safe environment for my clients is achieved with my calm presence, attention and empathy. My goal is to put my client at ease, create an emotionally safe environment for you to share your struggles and your experiences, while genuinely demonstrating that I have unconditional positive regard for the human being who is before me. There is suffering in the human condition, and understanding the impact of their experiences is a necessary step toward processing events and experiences that are impacting the person. If we are able to identify the root of their suffering and address this with positive coping skills, then the person will begin feeling better, relationships will become healthier, the relationship with self will continue to develop and the person will have a better sense of who they are and who they want to become.

What you can expect from me

In our first session we will introduce ourselves, talk about who and what is important in your life. I like to learn about you and your past experiences (if you have them) with therapy. From there I will ask you about the challenges that have brought you to therapy and how you will know that the challenges have been resolved in your life. What will it look like for you when you have accomplished what you hoped to accomplish by engaging in therapy.
