Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Ronak Makadia, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist (Psy.D.) with additional training in social work (MSW). As a second-generation, Asian American I quickly learned the stigma and shame attached to attending therapy, especially within the Asian American community. As a cis-gender woman of color, I value and will provide culturally competent services.

Please note that I only accept adults and older adults who are high-functioning but need support to overcome barriers. Due to the nature of my private practice, I am unable to accept clients who are seeking treatment for trauma, substance use or severe mental illness.

I work alongside patients to overcome any barriers they may be facing. I will always encourage you to create, learn, and consistently use healthy coping mechanisms. To avoid staying stuck, I collaborate with you in developing solutions to aid you in moving forward in your life. We all get stuck sometimes and I am here to help. Therapy does not have to be a painful experience and I will be here to guide you toward improvement in a welcoming, affirmative environment.

I support the movement to destigmatize therapy and make mental health care accessible for all. I will continue to support this mission and provide quality counseling. Grab an appointment off my calendar if you are interested in working together.

I look forward to working with you!

My approach to therapy

I primarily provide services to adults ages 23 and older, with a particular focus on middle‐aged and older adults. My clinical work often involves individuals presenting with symptoms of anxiety, chronic stress, or emotional overwhelm; difficulties initiating or maintaining interpersonal relationships; or challenges requiring focused problem‐solving and supportive processing. I also frequently work with clients seeking to enhance self‐esteem, initiate personal growth but feeling uncertain about where to begin, address weight‐related behavioral goals, or develop adaptive coping strategies and health‐promoting habits to manage ongoing life stressors. My therapeutic approach is centered on supporting adults in increasing insight, strengthening resilience, and improving overall functioning.

What you can expect from me

The intake session helps me learn about your background, personal history, goals, and what feels most important to you right now. After you schedule your first appointment, you’ll receive intake forms to complete shortly afterward. Filling them out ahead of time allows us to use that information in our session and helps make your intake experience smoother and more meaningful.
