Great to meet you!

I’m Russell Vollmer, a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Social Work from the University of New England and a Bachelor’s degree from Utah State University. For more than 17 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals and families across a wide range of settings—including homes, community programs, and clinical environments. I’ve also managed and operated mental health clinics, giving me a deep understanding of both the clinical and administrative sides of quality care.

While I’ve served in many roles, my true passion has always been direct patient care. I am a warm, genuine, and straightforward therapist who believes deeply in the power of human connection. My goal is to help you live a full, meaningful life based on your values—not anyone else’s expectations.

My approach to therapy

I became a therapist because helping people learn to love themselves again is one of the greatest honors of my life. I believe therapy should be a collaborative, empowering experience. I don’t tell you what to think or how to feel. Instead, I meet you exactly where you are—emotionally, psychologically, culturally, and spiritually—and we work together to explore your inner world, understand your experiences, and build the life you want.

I strive to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and understood. Whether you’re navigating trauma, identity questions, relationship challenges, or major life transitions, I’m here to support you with compassion and clarity.

Therapeutic Approaches

I am a trauma-informed, person-centered therapist who integrates a variety of evidence-based modalities, including:

• Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

• Mindfulness-Based Approaches

• Positive Psychology

• Person-Centered Therapy

• Motivational Interviewing

• Psychodynamic Therapy

• Skill-Building & Coping Strategies

Together, we’ll identify the approaches that best support your goals, strengths, and lived experience.

LGBTQ+ Affirming & Culturally Sensitive Care

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I provide affirming, inclusive, and identity-validating care. I understand the unique challenges that arise at the intersection of sexuality, gender identity, trauma, religion, culture, and family systems.

I was raised LDS and have navigated my own faith transition. This gives me a deep appreciation for the cultural, spiritual, and relational complexities that many clients face. I respect all faith traditions and support clients in maintaining, redefining, or healing their spiritual identities—whatever feels right for them.

What you can expect from me

Your first session with me is all about creating a comfortable, supportive space where you can simply be yourself. We’ll start by talking about what brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping to change, understand, or heal. There’s no pressure to share everything right away—you set the pace, and I meet you where you are.

I’ll ask some gentle questions to get a sense of your history, your current challenges, and what matters most to you. Together, we’ll begin shaping goals that feel meaningful and realistic. I’ll also explain how therapy works, what approaches might be helpful, and how we can tailor our work to fit your needs, values, and background.

Most importantly, you can expect a warm, nonjudgmental environment where your identity, culture, and experiences are respected. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the path ahead.
