Great to meet you!

Cait Helton is an EMDR-certified trauma therapist who helps high-achieving adults heal from anxiety, burnout, and complex family dynamics. She uses brain-based approaches like EMDR and Brainspotting to create lasting change. Her results-driven practice is designed for clients seeking clarity, confidence, and relief—not just coping strategies.

My approach to therapy

I came to this work through personal loss. In high school, I watched someone I loved walk through a long, debilitating terminal illness. That experience left me with big questions about pain, meaning, and how we keep moving forward when life feels unbearably heavy. I started out studying biology, chemistry, and graduate-level medical science, and realized that psychology was a vital part of how we make meaning and find peace. Over the years, I’ve worked in hospital oncology units, women’s shelters, and trauma-focused private practice. What I’ve learned is this: trauma doesn’t care who you are—but neither does healing. When the right tools meet the right timing, transformation is possible.

What you can expect from me

Therapy with me is structured and transparent—I’ll always tell you what we’re doing and why. When you’ve grown up in chaos—or lived through it—clarity matters. We’ll start with a consultation to make sure we’re a good fit, then map out a plan with regular check-ins and tools to track progress. I use EMDR, parts work, and family systems to help high-functioning, self-aware clients who feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. You might understand your emotions or behavior perfectly on paper, but your body still doesn’t believe it. That’s where we start. I work best with people who are curious, honest, and ready to take responsibility for how they move forward—even if they’re not sure where to start.
