Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Sam and I am a licensed clinical social worker, earning a Master of Clinical Social Work from Michigan State University in 2019, as well as a Bachelor of Social Work from Oakland University in 2018. My earlier years as a therapist, I was involved in crisis work, providing prompt crisis intervention to children, adolescents, and families during times of urgency.

However, in the last 4 years, my work is primarily with young adults experiencing depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. I also have specific training in Motivational Interviewing.

My approach to therapy

My approach is "to just be regular", as me and some of my therapist friends like to say. In my experience, rapport is built on feeling comfortable, first and foremost. Having a more "relaxed" and informal approach at times, lends to creating a space where one can truly utilize therapy to its fullest, being open, honest, and feeling safe to do so.

What you can expect from me

The first session will be started with warm introductions, my spiel on HIPAA, confidentiality, no show and cancellation fee policy, and a lot of information gathering from my end (apologies ahead of time for repeat questions from intake - I like to hear first hand from you). Most importantly, learning what your goals are for therapy and what you seek from the therapeutic relationship.
