Great to meet you!

Hello, I am Sarah, a mom of four girls and have lived in Maine for most of my life. I worked at a psychiatric hospital and was a foster parent before getting my master’s of social work. Since getting my master’s of social work I have practiced in schools, and have worked in home based and outpatient programs. I have worked with children of all ages with a focus on helping parents be the best caregiver for their unique children. I have a lot of knowledge about parenting children of all ages and with all temperaments and behavioral issues. I love working with adults as well to help them understand the impact of childhood trauma

on adult relationships, mood and behavior. With that insight in mind, I tend to focus on behavioral change that will help people develop connection, meaning and purpose in their lives.

My approach to therapy

My first task with new clients is to truly understand his/her life story, values, perspective and goals. I will focus on this assessment until the client and I have a shared understanding about each of these important pieces. Once this shared understanding is developed we will work together to identify goals for change and the therapy modalities that will be most useful. I have been trained in positive parenting program, parent/child interaction treatment, DBT, ACT, and trauma focused CBT.

What you can expect from me

I am truly curious about all people and eager to hear and understand each individual’s story. I have a down to earth and warm approach with zero judgement.
