Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Sarah Roe and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, (LCSW). I received my Masters of Social Work, (MSW), in 1989 from the University of Georgia and have over 30 years of experience working with a variety of populations. I am trained in best practice models including DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and trauma informed approaches. Specializations include trauma, codependency/addictions, family of origin, and women's issues.

My approach to therapy

Training and experience are only helpful if I am able to empathically connect with my clients. It takes courage to enter therapy and "bare your soul" to a complete stranger. By focusing on strengths, I am able to validate clients' struggles yet facilitate discovery of their own inner resources and abilities. My expertise and skills are thus used in a collaborative way, empowering clients to adopt healthier perspectives and behaviors to address their unique challenges.

What you can expect from me

It is critical that each client feel respected and heard, beginning at assessment. I listen attentively and confirm my understanding of each person's perspectives, thoughts and feelings throughout the therapeutic process which most people find very validating and affirming. As a result clients feel invested in the therapeutic process and are emboldened with a sense of hope that, through therapy, they can recover and learn to more successfully manage their individual problems and challenges.
