Great to meet you!

Hi! I'm Sarah -

I’m a therapist who listens deeply, but I’m also not afraid to tell you the truth (with compassion — and maybe a little humor if it helps).

My approach to therapy

My educational journey is the backbone of my therapeutic approach. It's been a path shaped by curiosity, hands-on experience, and a deep desire to understand the human experience. I began with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Northeastern University, where I was first introduced to the ways in which social and cultural forces shape our behavior. This sparked a fascination with the ways individuals navigate their environments. It was here that I realized I wanted to help people make sense of their own experiences.

After extensive experience in direct care as a counselor in residential and school settings, I wanted to expand my skills. I went on to earn my Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Counseling from Winthrop University in 2009, with a focus on Early Intervention Therapy. I then had the privilege of working closely with children and families to support their growth through challenges. This role deepened my understanding of the ways early experiences shape how we relate to the world. I went on to receive further training in marriage and family therapy from the Denver Family Institute.

Over the years, my education and training have continued to evolve. Every step, from my early counseling work to my continued professional development, has been aimed at helping others transform their lives in meaningful, lasting ways. Today, I bring all of this experience into my work with adults, particularly those navigating pivotal life changes. My journey as a counselor has been about learning, growing, and ultimately being able to pass that growth on to those I work with.

What you can expect from me

Clients usually come to me feeling:

  • Overwhelmed by stress or anxiety
  • Stuck in old patterns (that they swore they’d never repeat again)
  • Burned out by relationships — with partners, family, or even themselves
  • Afraid therapy will feel stiff, clinical, or awkward

Here’s what they find instead:

  • A space where nothing’s “too much” to say out loud
  • A mix of empathy, humor, and straight talk
  • Real tools to shift patterns and heal deep stuff (not just bandaids)
  • A person in their corner who actually gets it
