I have always been interested in learning about human behaviors and how the mind works. I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and then pursued an advanced degree through a Master of Social Work graduate school program.
I have worked a number of years in a residential treatment center for substance use disorders and helped my patients navigate legal challenges, family and child separation, relationships, employment, and housing issues.
I specialize in Addiction and Substance Use Disorders, along with the co-occurring mental health disorders that often come with it, using the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria. A large part of that work includes addressing anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma symptoms.
I am nonjudgmental and eager to listen and help in any way I can.
I like to ask a lot of questions to better understand the circumstances and situations each individual is experiencing. I offer practical suggestions that are easy to understand and implement, avoiding complex treatment plans and processes unless the patient expresses the desire to delve into more detail and depth.
We will use research based therapeutic methods, and discuss what the most recent research suggests regarding the challenges the patient is experiencing.
