Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with more than 27 years of experience in the behavioral health field. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals and families through difficult transitions, periods of stress, trauma, behavioral challenges, family concerns, and other life experiences that can feel overwhelming.

A significant part of my career has been devoted to supporting military service members and their families. As a Military & Family Life Counselor, I have provided short-term, solution-focused counseling around deployment and reintegration, stress management, family transitions, and the unique challenges that can accompany military life. My experience includes approximately 10 years of overseas assignments, which has strengthened my ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.Earlier in my career, I provided counseling to children and families in outpatient, therapeutic foster care, intensive in-home, and residential settings. My work included assessment, treatment planning, individual and family counseling, crisis intervention, and helping families address trauma, behavioral concerns, and complex family dynamics. My approach is supportive, practical, and focused on helping clients recognize their strengths while developing strategies they can use in everyday life. I understand that reaching out for counseling can be a significant decision, and my goal is to provide a respectful and welcoming environment where you feel heard, supported, and empowered as we work toward the changes that matter to you.

My approach to therapy

y approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, strengths-based, and tailored to your individual needs. I believe therapy should provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and respected while also gaining practical tools to create meaningful change in your life.

I use an integrative approach that may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw from these methods based on your needs, experiences, strengths, and goals.

Together, we may explore how your thoughts, emotions, experiences, and behaviors affect one another; develop healthier coping and emotional regulation skills; identify patterns that may be keeping you from moving forward; and build on the strengths and resources you already possess. When trauma is part of your story, I approach our work with sensitivity, respect, and an understanding of how past experiences can influence present-day emotions, relationships, and behaviors.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. I understand that beginning therapy can feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable, so my goal is to help you feel heard, respected, and supported from the start.

During our first session, we will talk about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you are currently experiencing, and what you hope to gain from counseling. We will also begin identifying your strengths, needs, and goals so that we can develop a treatment plan that is meaningful and realistic for you. My extensive clinical background includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, individual and family counseling, crisis intervention, and safety planning.
