Great to meet you!

I am a clinical/ forensic psychologist with over 40 years of experience. I work with clients ages 18 and up, with a variety of issues. I see a lot of clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, effects of trauma and PTSD, and family discord. (I don't work with substance abuse, do DBT, or EMDR).

I try to see each person's struggles within the context of their lives, not as a "symptom" that needs to be treated. My approach is flexible, based on what my client prefers. While I rarely give homework (unless asked), I do generally offer a variety of resources for clients to broaden their understanding of how their stated problematic fits within a certain context.

Because therapy is such a personal undertaking, I believe your best choice is to choose a therapist who listens well, understands your point of view, and is able to challenge you to consider new approaches.

My approach to therapy

I don't just use one approach, but if I had to choose, my primary approaches are psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral. This doesn't really capture how I work with clients, which is better described above.

What you can expect from me

I like to create an atmosphere of open exploration about what brings a client to treatment, and also the broader context. I encourage clients to become aware of their own patterns. I want clients to leave therapy feeling they have more choices, and more understanding, of how to handle a particular situation(s). I also want my clients to learn to trust their own intuition.
