Great to meet you!

I’m Shanita Newman, LCPC (Maryland), and I create a therapy space that’s real, honest, and built for where you are right now. I work with teens and adults exploring identity, relationships, boundaries, and life transitions.

My approach combines practical tools, emotional insight, and culturally-aware support to help you understand your patterns and feel more grounded in your everyday life. Therapy with me feels like a mix of accountability, compassion, and personal growth.

Ready to feel more in control of your emotional world? Let’s get started.

My approach to therapy

I work with Millennial and Gen Z women and teens experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem/self-image concerns, and trauma. My work is grounded in a humanistic, person-centered foundation, and I use an integrative approach tailored to each client’s needs.

My therapeutic style blends DBT skills, somatic and experiential techniques, expressive arts, and psychodynamic elements to help clients increase self-awareness, regulate emotions, and build healthier patterns. I am also an EMDR therapist in training, incorporating trauma-informed principles to support deeper healing.

Clients often describe my approach as warm, collaborative, and empowering—focused on helping them reconnect with themselves and feel more grounded, capable, and understood.

What you can expect from me

In our work together, you can expect a space where you’re encouraged to show up as your full, authentic self. I bring a warm, nonjudgmental presence that makes room for honesty, vulnerability, and real conversation. I incorporate expressive arts alongside traditional talk therapy, creating a space that supports creativity, emotional exploration, and deeper self-connection. My goal is for you to feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow in ways that feel true to who you are.
