Great to meet you!

My name is Shanti Majefski (she/her/hers), LCSW-S and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor in Texas and Oregon. I have over 20 years of experience providing individual, family, & group therapy to children, teens and adults. I have worked in both clinical counseling settings and the PreK-12 school setting where I served as the Director of Social Emotional Learning & Wellness and School Counselor.

I have a passion for helping people learn about their brain and acquire tools that can help make the hard parts of life a little bit more manageable.

I have extensive experience helping people navigate:

  • grief and loss
  • difficult relationships and family dynamics
  • chronic stress
  • parent and child stress
  • emotional regulation
  • anxiety
  • depression

I use a variety of empirically-based interventions and strategies that are grounded in neuroscience and psychology to support and empower clients on their journey.

My approach to therapy

I provide a non-judgmental and safe space in which clients can build on their strengths and passions, gain a deeper awareness of self and others, and develop the skills needed to cope with and navigate adversity.

I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT). I also incorporate current research from the field of Positive Psychology, Polyvagal Theory, and Mindfulness.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we will simply have a conversation. I will start with asking you what brings you to counseling. I will listen and inquire to learn about your current situation, your strengths, your coping skills, and your areas for growth. Together, we will create a therapeutic goal, set criteria for meeting that goal, and determine the frequency of our sessions.
