Great to meet you!

I’m Sharon Elizabeth Locklear, LCSW, ACSW, and I bring more than 30 years of experience as a mental health practitioner. My career has included work in private practice, hospitals, the U.S. Army, and the VA, supporting individuals through grief, trauma, caregiving, chronic health concerns, relationship difficulties, major life transitions, and complex mental health challenges.

I understand how easy it can be to lose yourself while caring for others, managing responsibilities, or simply trying to survive difficult circumstances. I believe people have the capacity to heal, grow, and create lives that reflect who they truly are. My role is not to tell you who to become, but to help you recognize your strengths, understand what may be keeping you stuck, and move toward the life you want to create.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, authentic, and strengths-based. I meet clients where they are while also helping them examine patterns, beliefs, relationships, and experiences that may no longer serve them. Therapy with me is supportive, but it is also purposeful. We will work together to increase insight, strengthen coping skills, build confidence, and translate what you discover in therapy into meaningful changes in everyday life.

My clinical training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Psychodrama. I am also certified in Grief Recovery and have completed Co-Active Coach and Divorce Coach training. I draw from these approaches based on each client's individual needs rather than expecting every client to fit one therapeutic model. Most importantly, I believe you are the author of your own life. Therapy provides an opportunity to understand your story, recognize your choices, and decide how you want the next chapters to unfold.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and understand what brought you to therapy. You can expect a welcoming, respectful, and judgment-free conversation about what is happening in your life, what concerns you most, what you have already tried, and what you would like to be different.

You do not need to arrive with everything figured out or know exactly what to say. We will begin where you are. Together, we will identify your immediate concerns, existing strengths, and priorities for treatment and begin developing goals that are meaningful to you. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, respected, and clearer about how we can work together to help you move forward.
